Rico Edwards of RWF #82 at the Houston Premium Outlets sees the potential in a blank canvas and turns his style into artistic expression. Creativity and individuality are not lacking in his sketchbook. Hear it from the artist himself on how he brings his sketches to life with his painting skills.
Q: Where do you find your inspiration in personal style from?
RE: Well I always find myself in Walmart once a month buying the latest issue of GQ Magazine to see the latest styles and figure out new ways to evolve my own personal style. As for being an artist, I love buying plain clothing and hand-painting my own designs onto them. I guess you can say my personal style comes from my own creative artistic abilities.
Q: It's date night. What's your go-to outfit?
RE: I guess it all depends on the weather. In the city of Houston the nights are mostly humid so my go to outfit would probably be a nice button-up shirt with my sleeves rolled up with a nice watch to either match my shirt or shoes. Either slacks or a really nice pair of jeans, wool socks for comfort a pair of comfortable shoes. Shoes would also depend on the weather or date for the evening.
Q: Desert island scenario. You're stranded. Assume you have basic necessities like food, water and shelter. Name the top 3 things you can't live without:
RE: My Sketchbook, couple of pencils and a backpack to carry my sketchbook and pencils.
Q: How would you describe your style?
RE: An artist hand-painting his designs onto clothing. Modern and urban style with a hint of a gentlemen's attire.
Q: Favorite place to shop for clothes and accessories to go with your RWF shoes?
RE: Honestly speaking I mostly buy plain shirts from either Macy's or Forever 21 because I like the way they fit. After purchasing these shirts I usually paint some sort of design on them along with a pair of Vans purchased from Robert Wayne Footwear. I'm not too big on accessories, minus a nice gold, black or white watch to go with my attire for the day.
Q: What trend do you wish would disappear forever?
RE: Young girls wearing little shorts with their butt cheeks hanging out. I think they’re called high waist shorts.
Q: Must-have style item for summer?
RE: Sunglasses, tank top, cargo shorts or cut-off jeans with a nice pair of Vans.
